Hello! I'm Amalia, and I'm honored to be part of your aviation journey.
My passion for aviation began right here in Yuma in 2018 when I took my very first discovery flight with Arizona Active Air. What started as a single introductory flight sparked a dream that would ultimately lead me to the flight deck of a commercial airliner. Today, through my partnership with Arizona Active Air, I have the privilege of instructing in the very same aircraft where my aviation journey began—a true full-circle moment that reminds me every day of the impact one flight can have on a person's future.
In 2020, I moved to San Diego to attend the American Airlines Cadet Academy, taking the next step toward my goal of becoming an airline pilot. After graduating in 2022 as a Certified Flight Instructor, I began helping aspiring pilots build the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to succeed in aviation. I have since earned my Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate and currently serve as a First Officer for a regional airline operating under the American Airlines brand.
Beyond flight instruction, I am deeply committed to expanding aviation opportunities within my community. As a Drone Professor at Arizona Western College, I teach unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), geospatial technology, and aviation-related courses that prepare students for careers in one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. I also work closely with local schools and Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, delivering presentations and creating aviation exposure opportunities for students throughout Yuma County.
Growing up in an agricultural border community, I understand how limited access to aviation can prevent talented young people from pursuing their dreams. That's why I am passionate about connecting students with resources, mentors, and experiences that show them what is possible. Whether it's introducing a high school student to aviation for the first time, coordinating airport tours, teaching drone technology, or helping a future pilot earn their certificates, I believe in giving back to the community that helped shape my own journey.
As the owner of Fly AmaliAir and a flight instructor partnered with Arizona Active Air, I strive to create a supportive, engaging, and personalized learning environment for every student. Whether you're taking your first discovery flight, pursuing a pilot certificate, or working toward advanced ratings, my goal is to help you build the knowledge, confidence, and professionalism needed to achieve success in aviation.

Whether you are taking your first discovery flight, earning a pilot certificate, exploring drone technology, or considering a career in aviation, my goal is to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed.
Safety remains the foundation of everything I do. I strive to teach not only the technical aspects of aviation, but also the judgment, discipline, and situational awareness that define safe and successful pilots.
Beyond the cockpit, I am passionate about serving my community by creating opportunities for students to discover careers in aviation and aerospace. Through my work with Arizona Western College, local schools, and Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, I am dedicated to exposing young people to pathways they may have never imagined possible.
Having started my own journey with a single discovery flight in Yuma, I understand the power of mentorship and opportunity. My mission is to pay that forward by helping each student build confidence, pursue their goals, and realize their full potential.
